Increasing number of lawsuit against Mirena; an intrauterine device (IUD) used by women to prevent pregnancies; resulted in its recall. Mirena IUD a T shaped device was fixed at the mouth of the cervix thus preventing movement of the sperms into the uterus.
It also released a hormone that would further prevent formation of eggs in women, thus ensuring complete birth control. This device once installed could function for five consecutive years after which it had to be discarded and a new one needed to be installed. However, it is a must to consult a gynaecologist before taking any action and this device was strictly recommended for mothers, who had a minimum of one kid.

Bladder Mesh After Hysterectomy Surgery
Many women today get their uterus removed due to several reasons. Few of these reasons are unusual menstrual bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis and tumor. This procedure is called Hysterectomy. Once women undergo this treatment, there are several other side effects of this surgery.
Hysterectomy leads to stress urinary incontinence (SUI) which means the women develops a medical condition wherein she is unable to control her urination. To rectify this, a bladder sling is recommended which is meant to rectify this situation. However, bladder sling after hysterectomy led to many other side effects like internal bleeding, tumour, pain, infections.
After installation of this bladder sling, there were further post-operative symptoms that were much more painful and distressing. The purpose of the sling failed and the problems persisted in many of the patients.
